PF scoops more Local govt. seats

 

Kapiri Mposhi, 2 March 2013, ZANIS – The Ruling PF has scooped the Luanchele and the Mpunde wards in Kapiri Mposhi in the 28 February by-elections.

 

And in Kabompo District ,  the ruling party has also won four ward by-elections held on April 28.

The Luanchele and Mpunde wards, the  by elections in Mkushi District were necessitated by the resignations of MMD incumbent councilor, Bernard Liteta and Independent councilor for Mpunde Baswell Mushima who joined  the PF two months ago.

 

The duo were readopted by the PF to re-contest their seats, respectively.

 

In the Luanchele Ward Elections PF’s Liteta polled 440 votes, followed by UPND’s Victor Hammweene who got 267 votes while MMDs Denes Mulimba managed only 48 votes.

 

The PF candidate in the Mpunde ward by election, Beaswell Mushima amassed a total of 918 votes, UPND’s, Pwele Henry got while MMDs  Fisonga Goodson managed to get a paltry 53 votes.

 

Mpunde and Luanchele Wards Returning Officer, Jimmy Musweu declared Liteta and Mushima as duly elected Councilors for the two wards respectively at 17:10 hours yesterday.

 

The elections were marred by apathy as only less than  20 percent of registered voters in each ward managed to turn up to vote. The elections were incident free.

 

And in Kabompo District ,  the ruling party has also won four ward by-elections held on April 28. District elections officer Francies Nkoma confirmed this to ZANIS in Kabompo toady.

Mr. Nkoma said that PF candidate Daniel Mukonda won the Chikonkwelo ward by-elections with 240 votes against UPND candidate Reuben Minganja who got 71 votes and MMD candidate Morgan Ndombwe who got only two votes, adding, 16 ballot papers were rejected out of the total of 329 ballot papers cast.

He said PF candidate Chondo Kaliye won the Katuva ward by-elections with 223 votes against UPND candidate Morgan Chimbwili who got 110 votes and MMD candidate Robert Sachilulika who got 85 votes while five ballot papers were rejected out of the total of 423 ballot papers cast.

Mr. Nkoma added that PF candidate Paddy Chisola won the Kamafwafwa ward by-elections with 212 votes against UPND candidate Kenneth Kolongo who got 154 votes and MMD candidate Noel Nsanji who got 104 votes while seven ballot papers were rejected and out of 477 ballot papers cast.

He said PF candidate Roy Kusaloka won the Kayombo ward by-elections with 356 votes against UPND candidate Edwin Kalolu who got 83 votes and MMD candidate Moses Kaputula who got only 13 votes while eight ballot papers were rejected out of the total of 460 ballot papers cast.

He commended all the political parties for conducting peaceful local government by-elections in the four wards without violence and in free and fair elections.
