Two people shot dead in Muchinga province

 

Nakonde, February 19, ZANIS ——- Two men have been shot dead by unknown people in separate instances in Isoka and Nakonde districts of Muchinga Province.

 

Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Remmy Kajoba confirmed this in a telephone interview with the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Nakonde today.

 

Mr Kajoba said that one person by the name of Gilbert Sinkala aged 45, of Kantopwezi village in Chieftainess Nawaitwika’s area in Nakonde district was found dead by the neighbors near his house during the week.

 

Mr Kajoba said that the neighbours later reported the matter to police who rushed to the scene where they found Sinkala lying dead with a gunshot wound on his right chest.

 

He further said that the police also found a man made muzzle loader which was 8 meters away from the dead body.

 

Meanwhile Mr Kajoba said that another man identified as Elias Sichone aged 49 of Chief Kafwimbi in Isoka district was also shot dead by unknown men near his place during the week.

 

The police Commissioner explained that this was after the younger brother to the deceased found Mr Sichone dead around 19:00 hours and reported the matter to police.

 

Mr Kajoba said that when the police visited the scene of crime they found Mr Sichone lying dead in a pool of blood with wounds of gunshot on his right rib.

 

He added that the motive behind the killing is not yet established but the police have since intensified investigations in the matter.

 

Mr Kajoba said that the two bodies have since been deposited at Nakonde health mortuary waiting post mortem.
