Mongu advances preps for UNWTO

Mongu, February 15th 2013, ZANIS — Western Province has formed a committee to spearhead the province’s participation in the forth coming United Nations World Tourism Organisation Conference (UNWTO).

The committee, which has been initiated by Citizen Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC), will identify products to be exhibited at the UNWTO in August this year.

ZANIS reports that CEEC Provincial Empowerment Officer Walusungu Banda confirmed the development in an interview in Mongu , today.

Mr. Banda said the committee will also mobilise and facilitate the capacity building of exhibitors in order to have products of international standard.

Mr. Banda said the province wants to be proactive in ensuring that the Province’s tourist attractions are show cased hence the early preparations.

He told ZANIS in Mongu in an interview that the committee will come up with a documentary which will have products that cannot be mobile such as the Barotse landscape, National Parks and game reserves and the hospitality industry.

The conference will be co-hosted by Zambia and Zimbabwe in August.
