Three nabbed in Mumbwa over AK 47 empty cartridges

Mumbwa…Febuary.14..2013…ZANIS…POLICE in Mumbwa have apprehended three Kaoma residents who were found with two and half by 50kg bags of empty cartridges of AK47 riffle.

Both police sources and Mumbwa district commissioner Sunday Shamabanse confirmed to ZANIS in Mumbwa today that the trio was arrested yesterday around 14:00hours at Nalusanga wildlife gate about 40km west of Mumbwa along Lusaka- Mongu road.

Mr. Shamabanse said the three concealed the contraband in Food Reserve Agency  (FRA ) maize bags in order to pretend that they carrying maize.

The District Commissioner disclosed that they alert Zambia Wild life Authority [ZAWA] police officers at Nalusanga gate recovered the three bag after searching a Lusaka bound Rosa minibus from western province.

He added that police managed to recover the two and half 50kg bags of the cartridges while another 1 X 50kg bag processed to Lusaka, which was later intercepted at the intercity bus terminus

Police has instituted investigations into the matter.
