Shiwangándu , February 13, 2013, ZANIS — The office of  the District Commissioner (DC) and other government departments for Shiwangándu District in Muchinga Province are now operational.

ZANIS reports that Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary (PS) Charles Sipanje confirmed the development in Shiwang’andu District, today.

Mr. Sipanje said this yesterday when he officially introduced the District Commissioner for Shiwangándu Catherine Chama – Chileshe and other heads of Government departments who have been set to the area.

He said the DC and other government officers for various departments will be operating from Kalala-ntekwe Resource Centre, a proposed site for the construction of Shiwang`andu district administrative centre.

The PS said that construction of the district administration block would begin as soon as the office of the secretary to the treasury under Ministry of Finance approves the submitted budget.

He disclosed that once the budget has been approved, constructions of the administration block and staff houses will immediately commerce.

Among heads of departments who have been appointed is the District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) Ms. Annie Mutambo, District Education Standard Officer (DESO) Brenner Mulenga and District Agriculture Coordinator (DACO) Moses Mulenga while the Health sector will be manned by the District Medical Officer, Webster Kabinga.

Last year, President Michael Chilufya Sata created a Seventh district in Muchinga Province and named it as  Shiwang’andu .

This is in line with PF Government commitment to decentralise the operations of the Government  by realigning  Districts and Provinces  in the country for easy service delivery to the public.
