—-The Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) is about to complete awareness for its Cluster Chain Concept following consultations in all the provinces of the country.

CEEC Communications and Public Relations Manager, Glenda Masebe, said key clusters have been proposed for every province after a lot of research and cited Eastern Province, where dairy, cotton, and groundnuts’ industries have been proposed in Chipata, Lundazi and Petauke respectively.

Ms Masebe said this in Lusaka today in response to a press query by ZANIS.

She said it was cardinal for stakeholders to be sensitised before the cluster value chain was implemented so that they understood the new strategy of the CEEC empowerment programme for the next four years.

She explained that the commission had not received applications for funds because the new strategy would mean the empowerment funds would not be given to individuals but industries.

Ms Masebe disclosed that the commission had proposed poultry, dairy and fisheries industries for Lusaka but consultations were yet to be conducted, stressing that the CEEC did not want to impose any industry on the people.

She stated that the CEEC would be holding one final stakeholders’ meeting for Lusaka next week on the matter.

Last year, the CEEC temporarily suspended the receiving and processing of new applications for empowerment fund until further notice.
