Government has expressed happiness that about 70 per cent of construction works at the Ultra Modern Sports facility at the National Sports Development Centre (NASDEC) have been done ahead of the Zone 6 Youth Games.

Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili says this is an indication that the country will successfully host the games.

Mr. Kambwili said contrary to assertion by critics of the Patriotic Front government that it will fail to host the games, Government stands committed to promoting and fostering prosperity within the sports fraternity.

Speaking when he inspected works at NASDEC, Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) and October Block at the University of Zambia, Mr. Kambwili was optimistic that works will be completed before the kick-off of the Zone 6 youth games slated for December 4.

He, however, challenged the contractors working at NASDEC to ensure the environment is made more attractive because doing so subsequently helps to market the country internationally when visitors come to Zambia.

The Zone 6 Youth under 20- Games are scheduled to take place from December 4to December 17, 2012.
